On this latest episode of InApps Technology Makers podcast, recorded at KubeCon and CloudNativeCon in Austin, Josh Bernstein, vice president of technology at Dell Technologies and leader of the {code} open source initiative, and Kit Colbert, vice president and general manager of cloud-native apps at VMware, break down what a Kubernetes deployment looks like today, and what the typical enterprise Kubernetes cluster will look like in the future.
“The challenge with containers is not with dev tests. We see containers being a very common way of building a CI/CD pipeline. When you go to production, that’s when it gets really hard. That’s when you have requirements like security, monitoring and compliance. There’s a lot of problems you start getting into,” said Bernstein.
“When you move to production, there’s all these ecosystem challenges that haven’t really been addressed yet […] These pieces are what’s been missing from the ecosystem for so long. Having worked with CI for so long in the past, we’re starting to see solutions to all these peripheral problems,” added Colbert.
